Tree spotting, tree games and tree planting
July Sunday 25th, 10am to 1pm Kiora Tane:
Trip details: Join local ecologist, Jon, for a learning how to identify native trees. Then, help protect our river catchment area and moana, and leave a good legacy by planting young trees to help heal a degraded wetland site.
Meet: 10 am at Aongatete Lodge, end of Wright Rd, off State Highway 2.
Bring: Lunch. Strong footwear. Warm clothing. Wet weather gear. Spades and gum boots.

Nature Detective Hunt in Maungatautari Ecological Island
August Sunday 15th
Trip details: Come with Trust Educator Gemma Green on a detective hunt for signs of ecological recovery in this predator-free sanctuary. We’ll look for rare birds, insects and some inspiring plants. We’ll climb through the forest layers and up a tower to see the canopy close-up. Afterwards we’ll visit the Trust’s classroom with Gemma to find our more about what we’ve seen.
Meet: 10am at the Gates of the sanctuary. Take Arapuni Road to Pukeatua and then Tari Road to the Gates. Allow 1 ½ hour from Tauranga.
Bring: Notebook. Lunch. Warm outdoor clothing, raincoat and a change of shoes. Camera!
Important: Toilets are limited so go before you leave.

‘The 1080 Film’
September Friday 17th Movie Night -
Trip details: BYO picnic dinner followed by the 1080 film at 6.30pm
Meet: 6.00pm up the top of Mt. Drury
Bring: Blanket, torch, picnic dinner

Kaharoa Dawn Chorus and Raptor Experience
September Saturday 25th to Sunday 26th
Trip outline: Meal and sleepover at Kaharoa School Hall. Pre-dawn visit to Kaharoa Reserve to listen for Kokako and hear dawn chorus. BBQ brunch and games and on Sunday afternoon a trip to Wingspan to see the Raptors.
Meet: Kaharoa School 5pm on Saturday.
Bring: All food, outdoor clothing, camera, torch, bedding, including carrymats/lilos, listening ears.
Total cost: $10 - $15 per person depending on numbers (Wingspan is offering us a considerable discount. Normal entry is $20 per adult and $8 for children.)

Wildlife Cruise with Butler

Time: 8:30am (till approx 3 or 4 pm)
Where: Tauranga Bridge Marina 'C' Pier. (On the Mount side of the Harbour bridge, beside the harbour bridge)
Cost: $30 per person

Insects at Night
November Saturday 6th
Trip details: Join entomologist, Peter Maddison, for a picnic dinner/supper before setting off at dusk on a night walk to inspect insect life at Otanewainuku Forest, Mountain Road, Oropi.
Getting there: From Te Puke, take the No.2 Road and turn right onto Mountain Road. From Tauranga, go up Oropi Road then take the left fork onto Mountain Road (signposted Mountain Road, Te Puke). Allow half an hour travel time.
Meet: 6.30pm at the shelter by the car park.
Bring: A picnic dinner or supper, warm clothing, suitable footwear, torch/head lamp per person.

Lake Okareka Board Walk
November Sunday 21st
Trip details:
Meet: 10.00am at the corner of Boucher Ave, Te Puke to car pool.
Bring: Bring: lunch, snacks, drink, sunhat, raincoat and walking shoes.

Daly’s Clearing
December Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th
Trip details: Join Kea for an overnight trip to Daly’s Clearing Hut in the Kaimai Mamaku Forest Park. Gear list will be supplied and some gear may be available for loan/hire.
Meet: 9:30am Farmlands carpark, Te Puna, cnr SH2 & Minden Rd
Bring: All equipment & food which will need to be carried both in & out! (2-3hours each day)
