Garden Bird Survey: Get Counting!

Garden Bird Survey: Get Counting!

Wed, 22 Jun 2011

Count the tweeters in your garden and you will be helping scientists to work out which garden birds are most abundant. This year’s survey will be held between June 25 and July 3.. During this week, people are asked to spend one hour in their gardens, local parks or school grounds to record the largest number of each bird species they see or hear at any one time.

The top 10 birds found in gardens in 2010 were: Silvereye, House sparrow, Starling, Blackbird, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Tui, Fantail, Goldfinch and Song thrush.
