All About Me

Hi my name is Liam Gilroy and I help Ann Graeme edit the KCC magazine and I have just started writing articles for the KCC website. I love to edit the KCC magazine because I get a sneak peak at all the stories. I also get to see it with no colour on it and just the sketches of all the different animals and birds that are featured in the magazine.

There are four people in my family - there's mum, dad, my younger sister Tori, who is ten years old and me. I am eleven, going on twelve. My family is a real group of animal lovers. We have three dogs, two cats, chickens, and sheep and are surrounded by cows in the neighbouring farm land. We live about ten minutes from Morrinsville and about 20 minutes away from Hamilton. We own a small lifestyle block that has great views and we are woken by the sun and the birds each morning.

Right now I’m going to Berkley Normal Middle School as a Year Seven. I used to go to Tauwhare School where my Mum teaches the Year 0/1 class. My favourite subjects at school are maths, reading, science and well … anything other than spelling.

My favourite past-time is to go tramping with my Nana and Poppa. I’ve been on tramps with lots of different tramping groups. My longest tramp that I’ve ever been on was eight hours -we started at 8:30 am and ended at 4:30 pm. My favourite type of tramp to go on is where we go and hike 2-3 hours into the bush and go into old mining caves. Once we found some Hochstetter frogs which are one of the rarest native frogs in New Zealand.

My favourite thing to do at home is reading, gaming, playing music, kayaking, biking and going on my motorbike. I play the piano, guitar and drums and each weekend I play hockey for the Hillcrest Hockey Club. I also like to play with our dogs and cats - we have two Miniature Schnauzers who are both a year old and a Boxer Labrador cross who is 13 years old. We have a huge garden and trees all the way up our driveway which birds nest in every year.

I’m really lucky to be able to do all these things and hope that I can write some interesting articles for you to enjoy.
