How to Write to Politicians

Back

YOU CAN HELP New Zealand's native species and natural places by writing to politicians.

The Beehive, Wellington

Politicians are the people that work in government. They spend most of their time working in parliament buildings in Wellington (one of the buildings is known as 'The Beehive').  Politicians are very busy people.  Because they are busy, they sometimes need to be reminded about important things in the natural world.
It is up to us to remind them!

Why we must remind politicians about the natural world......
The natural world is the trees, birds, oceans, atmosphere, plants, insects........   the very things which keep the planet alive and which keep people alive - we need a healthy world to survive in. We must look after the things in the natural world.

How to remind politicians about the natural world.......
Writing to politicians is the best way to remind them about how important the natural world is.
It doesn't have to be just a boring letter, you can use lots of pictures. You might like to use the pictures from this website - colour them in and write about what is in the picture, or you might like to draw your own picture of something you care about.
You must write about your picture too. It is important to explain to the politicians why people must care for the natural world.

What are the benefits of writing to politicians.......

If we remind the politicians about how important New Zealand's native species and natural landscapes are, they will learn to care for them too (just like all the KCC members do!) .
Politicians working in government have the power to change New Zealand's laws. It is hoped that when the politicians learn how important the natural world is, they will make better laws to protect it.

We all make a difference -
let's make it a positive difference.
