2. Where To Go

You do want to visit a forest that is easy to get to and has well-defined, reasonably flat tracks.

You don't want a forest that is too remote (and lose your way and your helpers getting there), has river crossings which can be dangerous and involves steep climbs on ill-defined, confusing tracks!

A small, handy forest reserve with a loop track is ideal.

The Department of Conservation and City, District and Regional Councils may be able to direct you to suitable places for class trips. Contact them for maps and information about local forests.
