The Story of a Kakapo. Parrot of the night. By Philip Temple & Chris Gaskin. Published by Hodder and Stoughton. Packed with facts, this fictional story is enjoyable and educational.

Quest for a Kakapo. The full story of New Zealand's most remarkable bird. By David Butler. Published by Heinmann Reed. This book is best read by intermediate age and up. It contains excellent background information about the rescue of the kakapo.
