KCC Trips and Activities

Return to About KCC

A great way to learn, share knowledge and get involved in caring for the planet is to Join KCC.

Many KCC members join in with club activities that help to care for New Zealand's wildlife and wild places. They also spend time learning about New Zealand's natural environment.

Some Kiwi Conservation Club groups organise trips and activities for members and their families. Some of these events are listed on the Forest and Bird website

KCC members are also welcome to go on Forest and Bird branch trips.

Below are some pictures of KCC groups - they look like they are having FUN, and they are helping to make a healthier world too!

Beach clean-up
It's a load of rubbish! Hastings-Havelock KCC members picked up all of that rubbish off the beach. I bet the birds, dolphins and crabs would say 'thanks' if they could!
Dunedin KCC went to the beach and while they were there they conducted an experiment... they lined up 'dolphins' (plastic bottles) behind a board, which dammed up the water, and set a net down-stream. When the board was removed their 'dolphins' swam down-stream - some were killed in the gill net, but luckily some floated around it. What a cool experiment! Setting up the dolphins Watch out for the set net dolphins!
Planting trees for a healthier world The Kapiti Forest and Bird branch and Kiwi Conservation Club planted trees for Earth Day 2000.

Planting native trees helps to build new forests and will provide food and homes for native animals.

North Shore KCC visited Miranda Shorebird Centre in the Firth of Thames. They learnt about the birds that live there, and the birds that visit Miranda on their migratory path around the world. KCC families identifying birds at Miranda Can you see what I see?
Let's go to the cow shed and sing!

The opening of Travis Wetland board-walk
North Canterbury KCC went to Travis wetland to write a song, but it was raining, so they had to gather in a cow shed!

The song is called "Hey Pukeko!" It's about some of the animals that live at Travis Wetland.

They went to the opening of the viewing tower and board-walk at Travis Wetland.

Kiwi Conservation Club kids are helping to care for the planet!
